Keep it clean using the methods below

    by mission | 4 comments

Whether you switch purses often or just have a favorite standby, toting a dirty, old handbag is definitely not your style. Keep it clean using the methods below.
1.Read any care instructions that came with the purse. Follow them carefully.
2.Empty the purse of its contents before you begin. Once it's empty, open it as widely as possible and shake out any dirt or debris.
3.If the lining appears sturdy enough, gently vacuum out the interior to remove every bit of dust and dirt. Don't forget those dirty zip-up pockets.
4.Dry clean a fabric purse, or spot clean it with warm water and a gentle detergent such as Woolite using a clean, white cloth. Blot - don't rub - as you go.
5.Use leather cleaner on a leather purse. Use suede cleaner on a suede purse.
6.Wipe a vinyl, plastic or wooden purse with a clean, damp cloth.
7.Take velvet or silk purses to the dry cleaners.

    How to Clean a Suitcase

    by mission | 4 comments

1.A bottle of oil leaked inside this suitcase.Determine whether the suitcase is worth cleaning. If the suitcase isn't very dirty, don't bother cleaning it, or simply empty it and vacuum]] it off. After all, the purpose of the outside of a suitcase is to protect what's inside. Depending on the material, cleaning your suitcase could damage it. A little dust or dirt just adds character. If it was a terrible suitcase from the beginning and is now tattered and torn, or the latch or zipper is hopelessly stuck, it may simply be time for a replacement. On the other hand, if the damage is bad enough, you have nothing to lose by trying to clean it.

2.Empty the suitcase. Take out all the odd socks, old travel itineraries, leftover tissues. Also remove any prior luggage tags. You wouldn't want your suitcase traveling to wherever you went last month, anyway.

3.Remove plain, old dust. Brush the surfaces, especially the fabric ones, with a dry brush or broom to loosen dust. Then, use the dusting or upholstery attachment on a vacuum cleaner to extract anything that is loose. Remember to vacuum inside all the little pockets on the interior and exterior of the suitcase. This is a great way to remove the small debris and trash that is left behind in the pockets. Remember to feel around first so you don't suck up that missing earring or cufflink. Depending on how dirty your suitcase is, this may be good preparation for not making mud on subsequent steps. On the other hand, if removing the dust is enough, you're done.

4.Test on a small area. Take a damp cloth and, if you like, a bit of soap or mild liquid cleaner, and try rubbing gently at a small, inconspicuous area on the outside of the suitcase. If the test is successful, wipe the rest of the bag, changing cleaning cloths as necessary. Follow up with a moist cloth to remove as much soap residue as possible.
